If we accept that the roots of science are grounded in the same roots of philosophy, (which for western civilization they were), philosophy did put a man on the moon. Without the questions asked by the early Greek philosophers, Muslim philosophers, Catholic scholars and mathematicians from the Moslem world and continent of India we would never have have developed the American scientific establishment. Philosophy also lays the groundwork for ethics and values, which, had modern philosophers focused on making more accessible to their students, might have staved of the current (dare I say it?) war on critical thinking.
