I’m always hesitant to use the word deconstruction since to lay ears it means to tear down, when, in fact, it has reconstructive connotations. Heidegger proposed the term deconstruction to mean “arrive at those primordial experiences in which we achieved our first ways of determining the nature of Being—the ways which have guided us ever since” (BT 44). Perhaps to avoid people clapping their hands over their ears because the term sounds destructive, we might consider different metaphors such as “recovery” or “rediscovery.” Or even a journey to original understanding.
