When I taught writing in college, I stressed that students should write short, plain prose — not to impress, but to communicate. The reason being was that they threw so much verbiage and meaningless bullshit into their papers that they clearly meant to hide the fact that they had no clue about what they were writing about. Trump has become the anti-model of what I taught. Clean, simple, and focused, yes, but constructed from the psychic projections of an audience weaned on conspiracy theories and misinformation from FOX News, urban legends and the web.
